The Sandwich of Brotherly Love
Fud for Youse: cooked steak onions sweet peppers mushrooms salt black pepper steak seasoning rolls cheese (try muenster or provolone) mayo (optional)
1 Cut an onion into thin slices. Over Medium Heat, sauté the onion in some olive oil. About 5 mins.
2 Remove the stem and the seeds from the sweet peppers. Dice and then add to the pan with the onions. Cook down for 2-3 mins.
3 Add the sliced mushrooms and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook with the onions and peppers for 3-4 mins and then remove all the veggies from the pan.
4 While long, thin slices of steak are traditional, it’s difficult to cut thin enough without an industrial meat slicer. I prefer to just dice the steak into small chunks (the size of a sugar-cube). Season with your favorite steak seasoning.
5 Slice the rolls open and use as a reference to determine how much steak to use for each one. Add one portion of cooked steak into the pan and re-warm for 3-4 mins. Add the veggies and stir together.
6 Place 1-2 pieces of cheese (depending on the size of the roll) over the top and cover the pan so the heat melts the cheese.
7 Dress the roll with some mayo. With a spatula, slide the cheesy steak out of the pan and into the roll. Fly Eagles Fly!
